Deep Forest is the title of this triptych artwork. The Pacific Northwest Coastal forest is indeed deep and full of mystery. The darkness beckons me to explore, woos me. Silence, exclusion on all human noise. Stillness of the soul embracing the moment. I get lost for words so I let my brush speak for me. A response from my daughter was this: “
The addiction lies within.
There is no escape from the peace
that arises with the moment.
Time trickles by,
slower than anticipated, yet clearer than
any day has ever been.
Another memory formed and gone,
dissipating from the mind.
The words on the page form more than a story.
They shift and warp with every glance,
the meaning encased.
The haunting connection,
the frightening withdrawal.
But still, continuing silence.
I am alone.” Kate Van Giesen
